WorldView-2 will launch on October 8, 2009 on a Boeing Delta II launch vehicle from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

Upon launch, WorldView-2 will join DigitalGlobe’s two other high-resolution satellites in orbit, QuickBird and WorldView-1. WorldView-2 is the first commercial high-resolution satellite with eight-band multispectral imagery collection capabilities.

DigitalGlobe expects images and products from WorldView-2 to be commercially available approximately 90 days after a successful launch.

The launch will be broadcast over the Internet. To view the webcast, visit: http://www.boeing.com/defense-space/space/bls/missions/worldview-2/ on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at approximately 11.15 a.m. PDT. The launch is scheduled for 11.38 a.m. PDT.
