World Oceans Day

08 June 2012

Oceans play a crucial role in our daily lives. For instance, they generate most of the oxygen we breathe, they help feed us, they regulate our climate and they are a source of potential medicines.

It is therefore vital to ensure that oceans are protected and conserved for future generations.

The World Oceans Day aims to celebrate our oceans and in particular to encourage individuals to think about what the ocean means to them and what it has to offer all of us with hopes of conserving it for present and the future generations, and to better understand how our daily actions affect the wealth of diverse and beautiful ocean creatures and habitats.
