Thanks to ESA's CryoSat mission, a new map of Antarctica provides the most accurate 3D view ever of the continent's vast ice sheet and floating ice shelves.
Just two weeks after the launch of the environment-monitoring satellite Sentinel-3B, the third of its payload of instruments – its radar altimeter - has begun sending high-precision measurements back to Earth.
China launched a civilian-operated Earth-observing satellite on Tuesday 08 May to survey global land and water resources, air pollutants, greenhouse gases and other environmental parameters.

Less than two weeks after it was launched, the Copernicus Sentinel-3B satellite has delivered its first images of Earth. Exceeding expectations, this first set of images include the sunset over Antarctica, sea ice in the Arctic and a view of northern Europe.
To further promote scientific research and applications, ESA and a leading geo-information company have agreed to continue data acquisition from the OceanSat-2 satellite.
GRACE-FO, scheduled to launch on 19 May, carries on the rich legacy of the original GRACE mission, which launched in 2002 on a planned five-year mission and concluded operations in October 2017. Among its insights, GRACE transformed our understanding of the global water cycle by showing how masses of liquid water and ice are changing each month.

A pair of new spacecraft that will observe our planet's ever-changing water cycle, ice sheets, and crust is in final preparations for a California launch no earlier than 19 May. The Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment Follow-On (GRACE-FO) mission, a partnership between NASA and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), will take over where the first GRACE mission left off when it completed its 15-year mission in 2017.

The second Sentinel-3 satellite, Copernicus Sentinel-3B, was launched on 25 April, joining its identical twin Sentinel-3A in orbit. This pairing of satellites increases coverage and data delivery for the European Union's Copernicus environment programme.

The next Sentinel satellite for Europe's environmental monitoring Copernicus programme is poised for liftoff from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in northern Russia.
The German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) and the United States corporation Teledyne Brown Engineering (TBE) are announcing the completion of the development and manufacturing process of the DESIS hardware.

Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) has today released a set of videos taken from orbit by CARBONITE-2, a technology demonstration satellite launched into a 505km low Earth orbit on 12 January 2018. The videos have been released to mark the end of spacecraft commissioning, and the start of the imagery demonstration phase of the mission. SSTL is supplying image and video data from CARBONITE-2 to Earth-i, a global satellite operator and Earth Observation insights and analytics company, headquartered in the UK, and to the Royal Air Force to expand further their growing Air and Space capabilities.
