Consisting (mostly) of tiny pieces of metal oxides, clays and carbonates, dust is the single largest component of the aerosols in Earth's atmosphere, and it likely has a significant impact on the Earth's climate, as it effects a wide range of phenomena, including from temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean to the rate of snowmelt in the southwestern U.S.

By the end of the training webinar series participants will be able to understand some of the basics of satellite remote sensing of aerosols and trace gases, able to access limited satellite images and data using online tools, and more familiar with remote sensing terminology. This training is intended for National and international entities involved in air quality management and professionals interested in implementing satellite capabilities for decision support activities. The course will have five 1 hour sessions every Wednesday from 08:00 to 09:00 EDT Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-4). |
