How satellites will help solve the climate crisis17 December 2019![]() For more than three decades, space agencies like NASA and ESA have been observing Earth from space and monitoring weather patterns and the global climate. The most comprehensive European Earth observation programme, Copernicus, includes a satellite fleet operated by ESA. Its Sentinel satellites are monitoring Earth's environment, including CO2 levels in the atmosphere, rising sea levels, floods, earthquakes, and rising global temperatures.
